We are specialized in working with children who have needs in speech production, auditory processing, auditory habilitation/rehabilitation, receptive and expressive language, literacy, social language, and executive functioning skills. Our therapists are trained in Orton Gillingham, PROMPT, and Social Thinking Curriculum among many other programs designed to improve speech and language skills. We use evidence-based approaches to help our students achieve their goals. Our aim is to help your child develop confidence and advocacy skills, so they can see themselves as a successful learner.


Tonie M. Vieux, M.S. CCC-SLP
Tonie, owner, and speech language pathologist received her master’s degree at Gallaudet University in Washington, D.C. Prior to pursuing her Master’s, she graduated from Towson University with a double major in Speech Language Pathology/Audiology and Deaf Studies. Tonie previously worked as a speech language pathologist at the Lab School of Washington and most recently at Alexandria City Public Schools.
Tonie enjoys working with preschool children, school age children, and teenagers. Her specialty areas include working with children with language-based learning disabilities who have difficulty with literacy-based skills including phonological awareness, reading, and writing.
Tonie works with children with auditory processing and social language difficulties, as well as preschool through high school age children in developing their speech, language, and executive functioning skills. She has specific training in auditory habilitation, and speech language development for children who are deaf or hard-of-hearing and children with developmental delays. She is PROMPT trained and trained in the Picture Exchange Communication System (PECS). She is also trained in Orton Gillingham and regularly uses PhonoGraphix, RAVE-O, SEE-the Sound Visual Phonics, Social Thinking Curriculum, Story Grammar Marker, and other evidenced based programs in her work with students.
Tonie holds a Virginia Department of Health License and a Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association (ASHA) and possesses over 15 years of knowledge and experience assessing and treating various communication disorders in pediatrics in private and educational settings.
Tonie grew up in New York, but has lived in the Washington, D.C. area since 2005. She currently lives in Alexandria with her husband, young son, and dog. She enjoys spending time with her family, reading, and cooking.
Tonie believes that each child has a unique gift and as a clinician she feels it is her job to not only figure out what that gift is, but also learn how to use it to help improve a student’s communication skills.

Kristen Allen, M.S. CCC-SLP
Kristen Allen is a speech language pathologist licensed by the Virginia Board of Audiology and Speech- Language Pathology and holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence from the American Speech Language Hearing Association. She has a passion for working with children and their families to help them achieve their speech, language, and communication goals. Kristen has experience working in various settings including private and educational environments. From her clinical experiences, Kristen has had the opportunity to work professionally with children with Developmental delays, multiple disabilities, Autism, Down Syndrome, Apraxia, speech sound disorders, fluency, and language-based learning disabilities including reading and writing impairments. She is trained in Orton-Gillingham and has strong knowledge of foundational skills necessary for reading and spelling. She has received specialized training in PROMPTS for Restructuring Oral Muscular Targets and Dynamic Temporal and Tactile Cueing for the treatment of Apraxia and speech sound disorders. In addition, she has completed introductory training in Myofunctional therapy and its role in speech and feeding development. Through continuing education and independent study, she has developed knowledge of Floor Time principles. She also has a great deal of knowledge and experience with Alternative and Augmentative Communication supports.
Kristen began her speech and language studies at James Madison University where she graduated with a Bachelor of Science in communication Sciences and Disorders in 2013. She then went on to receive her Master of Science in Speech Language Pathology from Loyola University of Baltimore.
Kristen grew up in the local area and currently resides in Alexandria with her husband, two dogs, and baby boy. She enjoys being a new mom and likes to stay active by spending time outside, going on walks, biking, and exercising.
